After 6 buses for me and 10 for Dave we eventually arrived on the Argentinian side of the Iguacu Falls. Our hostel was something like a cross between halls of residence and a sunny 18-30s holiday resort but that was not going to stop us having fun. We checked out the swimming pool before the volleyball match between the blonde bimbos and the loud machos began and then headed off into Puerto Iguacu town for something to eat. Having seen and felt enough samba to make our own carnival parade every year for life we were not expecting to be treated to by far the best street parade we had seen. Sorry Rio! There were manic drummers, a guy doing breakdancing and some girls who looked like the beat electrified and controlled every movement the dancers' bodies and took over their minds: it was fascinating.
The next day we headed out to see the other side of the Iguacu Falls. This was a more intimate way of seeing them - you did not get the panorama as much but you got right in there and felt the force of the falls! And apart from this there was amazing wildlife - there were butterflies everywhere just landing on your and staying there as long as you did not make too many strange and jerky movements! We were also treated to some crocodiles/alligators not far below us in the water - not something you see every day!
We made the most of our Club 18-30 holiday and prepared for our next stop: Buenos Aires.
