Today we leave Viterbo and head for Tuscany and a small town called Certaldo. Wouldn't you know it, first lousy day for weather - cold (4 degrees), overcast, blowing a gale and raining - perfect weather for travelling on unfamiliar roads in a unfamiliar car, ande relying solely on a GPS system to get us there (who said there was no adventure left in the world!!). We came across Viterbo as a place to visit/stay quite by accident. We were looking for a place to stay on our first night in Italy which wasn't too far from Rome. Viterbo was described as an historic walled city which was steeped in history and culture - and what a find it was. The original "old city" still exists behind the original walls. Up up and away - its off to Rome we go!!! Despite all we have heard about EasyJet, the flight is smooth and comfortable. Now for the 3rd hiccup of the day - trying to arrange a rendezvous with the car hire people at Rome Airport. what should have been a 20min wait, turns into a 2 hour wait (more sighs and looks from Navigator Julie). the local agent finally turns up and whisks us off to pick up the car (looks like a 2nd hand car lot when we get there)...
