David and Julie Browning's Travels
And so, on to Friedrichshafen, on the shores of Lake Constance, home to the Zeppelin.
More to follow ............
Next day, and the weather has turned to ****. Gale force winds, rain,
freezing cold. We were going to do a lake cruise across to Konstanz on
the other side of the lake, but all ferry services have been cancelled
due to the weather. So instead we opt for a visit to the Zeppelin museum.
It's a fascinating display. Takes you through the historical
development of the airship industry, from basic hot air balloons through
to the mighty Hindenburgh and Graf Zepellin. The production and use of
them was much more extensive than either of as had realized.
The weather is too miserable to do any exploring of the town, so we decided to do a drive around the lake to Konstanz. Once we got there however, found nothing much of interest, so turned around to head back to the hotel.
Tomorrow we leave Friedrichshafen and head down into Italy. Going to Lake
Maggiore, and a town called Verbania. Should be an interesting drive -
we have to cross over the Alps. Weather reports have been saying heavy
snows for the area. Hopefully it won't be too bad.
