Alas my journey accross Canada has come to an end. But what a journey. I reached B.C and the West coast last week and after spending a couple of days in Vancouver enjoying the Spring weather, biking around the coast and massive Stanley Park where I went to the aquarium to check out amongst others the overweight but friendly Beluga whales, playful otters and powerful sea-lions. Little did I know that I'd come across some of them again in their natural environm...

In the Rocky town of Jasper where you know you're in the wilds when you come accross elk strolling down the street, not to be messed with. Went mountain biking in the 'backcountry' as they call the wilderness here and didn't meet a human soul for hours. Just some moose, more elk & deer. They tell you to yell as you go around corners or into shrub on the bike so as to give any bears warning that you're coming so you don't bump into them...

Hooked up with a couple of French girls travelling the same way as me for a while so spent the last week touring Edmonton and Calgary, oil country (and also Redneck country). This is the land of oil and massive Pick Up trucks. We rented a modest size car - which wasn't easy (and wasn't even possible to get a manual here) and did a bit of a road trip to the amazing Rockies. Along the way we came across crazy named places such as Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jum...

In the Prarie town of Winnipeg at the mo, having spent a day and a half on the train from Toronto. A wee bit chilly still, rivers and lakes all still frozen along the way! Went to the crazy Niagara Falls before leaving, to think that some nutters have gone over them just for the hell of it. The Americans got the bum deal with the Falls, their side is a bit crap in comparisan to the awesome Canadian horseshoe falls, ha ha, Go Canada!

Arrived in Toronto after an interesting flight where I was hemmed into my plane seat by a rather obese Indian gentleman who not only kept falling asleep and snoring extremely loudly but persisted in draping his entire arm on my tv controls every time he did so - no one gets between me and my tv, so he got rudely awakened a few times. A little practise for South American public transport I guess!Anyway, Spring just about arrived in Toronto yeterday with bright sun...
