People everywhere are trying there hardest to help us find a taxi, accommodation, buy a hammock or buy some drugs...tops! Not! There are numerous villages around the lagoon, all at the base of various live volcanoes. Each village has it's own specific vibe.. We chose a relaxed, chilled party kinda place which sees a lot of long term visitors book into one of the many Spanish language schools. It's easy to see why, the place is gorgeous and the vibe is great. Heaps of expats have settled here for near permanent periods. We even found some Brooklyn brewery IPA.. Yum. The funny part though ...

So Antigua is quaint, kind of like a Guatemala version of Oaxaca. After an afternoon of flying we shared a cab with a nice chap from Seattle and got out of Guatemala City, we heard it wasn't worth seeing and in the way out we could see why. Can't believe there live of fast food, huge places, even a Taco Bell... Weird.. Anyway an hour or so later we arrive to cobblestone streets everywhere and lots of great coffee and amazing chocolate. Something to do with Mayans...

Time to leave Mexico. Plane looks a bit dodgy but I'm sure the pilot is quite capable:) luckily this wasn't our plane.. Weirdly keeping old rotting planes at the airport is a thing over here. Our plane was fine, even if our seats did double as flotation devices in case of emergency. Our flights were fine, and after a few delays and a helpful dude from Seattle we are in a cab from Guatemala City to Antigua... Apparently Guatemala City is not the place to hang out,...
