After the islands a peace of mainland time was needed so we planned to trip in one of the oldest rain forests in the world in khao sok national park! The accommodation was very basic again! Well a room on stilts! At least this time we had a proper bed and mosquito net!!! The reviews for the place were good and mentioned about the owner who was great company! He helped us to organise a canoe trip for the following day through the parks limestone cliffs. The first day we spent walking around the little village and eating. The weather though was so poor we couldn't do much. It is the wettest part of Thailand but you can fall lucky for certain days but we didn't! We had to cancel the canoe ride as the river was flowing too fast and the rain did not stop once all day! We took the opportunity to do some planning. The main event from khao sok though was the snake incident!! Early the first morning I heard a scream from the shower to hear sam going there's a snake! And yes there was a snake wrapped around the corner of the hut. It had snuck in from the rain! I then showered watching it very closely then went for breakfast. At this point we asked the owner what he knew about snakes. We described the snake with his response being a python!!! He got his 'ladyboy' colleague ( he wasn't but he called him this as he hasn't had children yet!!!) to remove it. He did this with a giant feather duster!! Once he had hit it out of the hut ladyboy and owner pushed it away using sticks and trees! A German family were even in the hut watching!! After a washed out few days though, we knew there wasn't much left of Thailand..
