Fairbanks, Alaska
After a very long day of travelling we finally arrived at Billie's Backpackers Hostel in Fairbanks at 1am local time (9am GMT).
Our travels so far have gone without a problem. Both flights have been very good and got us to our destinations on time. Seattle airport was lovely. The people there were so friendly and helpful, even the security and boarder guards! Getting to the hostel was also very simple because there were loads of taxis waiting at the airport, although I did have to wake up our driver.
The hostel itself is still covered in Christmas lights and looks very pretty from the outside. Billie (the lady who runs it) has only just got back from holidays herself, but she was here to greet us even though it's the middle of the night. It's very cosy and homely and most important of all - warm! Billie has two pug dogs that will no doubt keep Charlene entertained for the next week.
As I write to you now, it's 2:30am. Apparently there is a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights at 3:30 / 4am. Not sure if I can stay awake long enough for them. As I said it's been a long day. There is an 80% chance of seeing the Northern Lights if you stay in Fairbanks for 3 nights, so I'm sure we'll get another chance if we miss them tonight.
Anyway, I'm going now. Not sure if any of this blog entry has made sense as my eyes are half shut. Important things are; we got here safe, the place we're staying is great, and we're both very very happy.
I can't wait to play in the snow tomorrow!
