Apologies to any Guinea Pig lovers but Dave was determined to try out the traditional Peruvia meal of cuy chactado, which is basically Fried Guinea Pig!
So after some wandering around town we spotted a restaurant that sells said delicacy and placed the order.
After a wait out came Mr.Guinea Pig spead out on a plate. It really did look like a Guinea Pig that had just been thrown straight into a frier, its entire body was there, legs spread out with its claws still attached. And its entire head (with big tongue sticking out) and a kind of shocked expression on its face.
Dave got stuck into his dinner and would love to report that it was tasty delicious but it really was not. There is not a great deal of meat on a Guinea Pig, and what meat there is tastes of slimey chicken.
(see photo album for more close up photos!)
Emily got involved as well and gnawed on a leg, Inspired by this Dave went to try a leg and found fur still attached.
So it was a very interesting experience, not sure we would try it again but you have to get involved in the local culture dont you?

Lynne Yuk, yuk, errrrr yuk!!! sorry...............well done for trying it !!!!
Pauline What do you mean "well done for trying it" Lynne? Richard and Emily's guinea pigs Milly and Molly will be turning in their graves. It would have served them right if they'd choked on the fur. If you want culture - stick to the museums!
Lynne Oh Im sorry Milly and Molly!! I must admit I wouldnt want to try it, I wont even eat rabbit as love them as pets!! I think David was very , er , 'brave' !!
