We went to Alcatraz yesterday which was really eerie. There was an ex inmate there who has written a book about his stay so we bought a copy and got him to sign it. Darren liked the rule that they were allowed 'food, clothing, medical attention and shelter but everything else was a privelige'.

We've been on the cable cars but walked back from the fishermans wharf yesterday as they were full of bloody tourists, the hills are really steep and we were knackered when we got back to our lush hotel (what a dive we have moved to the hostel now which is nice).

After 2 hours on the muni system we decided to walk the golden gate bridge today, there are a number of 'crisis' call boxes dotted along it to give suicide jumpers a break and I tried to convince Darren to prove the signs that indicate jumping from the bridge can be fatal or tragic wrong but he wouldn't take me up on the offer.

We have been looking at all the Halloween costumes and they are so cool I want one - trying to find a giant bee costume but no luck so far, Darren nearly got a pirate outfit but has managed to resist so far. Cant wait only 4 days till trick or treat and the hostels are really getting into the swing with costume parties. We've had free food and beer tonight and there is someone murdering a song on the karaoke as we type this.
