We finally got off the truck after 46 days of camping and cooking on a fire. It was a really good last few weeks and we got to see all the big five before we finished.

Been at the volunteer project now for just over a month and its been good especially watching Darren feeding the toddlers and then they kick it all over him haha! Generally we are working five days a week doing a little bit of everything, helping in kitchen (the most boring, we get to pick stones out of lentils) feeding the babies and toddlers in the abandoned baby nusery and doing homework club at the end of each day and Darren is making a tool box with some of the older kids. On the weekends we plan an hour session for the kids either sporty or arts and craft stuff. Mine and darrens first week on it was a total disaster and I think the kids wanted to get back to their chores more than join in with us.

It's a really good set up here, we both have a flat, Darren is mostly on his own but has 2 18 year olds with him just now for a few weeks. They are really nice and he definitely appreciates the male company because otherwise all the other volunteers are girls. Im in a flat with 2 other girls, rona 24 and helen 41 and they are both really nice too. The childrens home is only a 10 minute walk down the road and there is a big supermarket close to so we're all sorted ;-) it gets dark about 7 o'clock here and your warned not to go out in the dark because its too dangerous so we either get a taxi somewhere or during the week work our way through the 'house' box sets, onto season 3 now.

We're until December 15th and then we've booked a flight to brazil, sao Paulo so I think we should be there at Christmas time or somewhere else in brazil anyway.

I sent a copy of my pictures home with another volunteer so im just waiting on him putting up on the website so everyone can see.

thats a bit old now

darren just came back yesterday after 8days away in the great rift valley at an all girls school. the girls get rescued from there village before they get adult cicumsision (dont laugh at spelling) he said they all just looked at him and went all giggly hehe! also asked him his babtism name and he said he was babtised darren joseph so they just decided his name was joseph after that. its staff parties next week in the childrens home and their doing kenyas got talent, its nice though because everyone is taking it seriously so should be a good we night. after that most of the kids are going to their extended family for their summer holidays and wont be back till next year.
