Well, last night was fun. We decided to drink a little bit at each pub we came to. We only went to two or three and had a little more than a little. It was fun though. At one of the pubs Leigh won twenty pounds on one of the slot machines. It helped out a lot because we were essentially drinking for free, at least 4 drinks anyways. Danny has had a total of eight different types of beers so far-unfortuantely he is not very impressed with the English beer. Guiness is the best so far (it may be hard to beat) and Leigh has been drinking nothing but Foster's. We made it back to the hostel around 1ish and went to bed.
This morning was a little bit slower than the past few days. Our roommates left before 10am (they made a lot of noise leaving, but oh well-they were nice guys from Manchester) then the cleaning lady came into our room and started cleaning, then shortly after her a guy came in and started vac-oo-ming (this is how the brits would pronounce it). They don't wait for anyone, we were trying to put our things away so we could leave for the day, but they didn't care. We left the hostel and grabbed a quick bite to eat at the McDonalds around the corner then went to Starbucks for some coffee. We then walked to the Visitor's Center to find out the prices for the London Eye, but it's about 25 pounds a person, so we'll have to save that until next time around. We then went into the National Gallery, it was FREE!! It was alright; there were a lot of religious depictions, most of the paintings were from the 13th century to the 17th century. It was nice. Danny's favorite painting was called the Rape of the Sabines. In this painting Romulus, the first king of Rome, is sitting on a throne as he invited the Sabine men to enjoy games in Rome while his soldiers captured and Raped the Sabine women. It was interesting. Leigh's favorite paintings came from Monet's collection. She enjoyed the colorfulness of the paintings. From there we decided it would be nice to go sit by the River Thames and people watch. It was a great view. After about an hour of sitting by the river we thought it would be a good idea to go look for a way to get our photos on the computer. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful. We just can't get it to work-perhaps we'll just have to buy another camera;) After a little while of searching for camera parts we got hungry and walked into Chinatown for some real Chinese food. It was very tasty. After Chinatown, we walked around for a bit and headed back to the hostel. We have two new roommates now. Two older ladies-at least older than us-probably from Spain (they were speaking spanish-so we assume they are from Spain). They were very anti-social though; not like our former roomies. Leigh thinks they are lovers. We left the hostel again to go to the visitor center because we needed to find out how to get to Luton Airport by train. The man at the desk was very helpful. On our way back from the visitor center, the coolest car we've seen was pulled over on the side of the road. The entire roof was the door. We have no idea what kind of car it was though. The policemen that pulled the car over didn't even know what was going on with this car-they were poking it like monkeys. And now we're just updating our blog.
We leave for Berlin tomorrow at 1:00pm. We have to check out from the hostel at 10am so we'll probably head to the airport around that time. To Lulu and Kimo, sorry for the phone call super early this morning...I forgot there was a time difference and thought it was Father's Day today:) But at least we know Danny's phone works over here! We're off to have a beer!!! Ciao!
