Our first night in Amsterdam...well what can we say...it was interesting. We arrived here between 2:30 and 3pm and easily found our way to the hotel. We have 2 other roommates this time. After we settled in we walked over to the main street and got a bite to eat followed by a trip into the tourism office. The man behind the counter was very helpful and made our decisions on what to do simple. We first signed up for the hop-on hop-off bus tour (it is an easy way to get around and will take us to all the main attractions that we want to see). We got tickets for the Van Gogh museum, the Ice Bar, and a Canal cruise. Also we plan to go to the Anne Frank house, but we have to wait in line for tickets there. We didn't do any of these things yet we are saving them all for Tuesday.
Our Monday adventure consisted of going to a pub in the Red Ligh District. Wow, what an experience. At the pub we met some nice guys from London who were there for a buddy's 18th birthday. They were just as baffled by the whole thing as we were. But we started to make bets on how long the curtains would be closed...so that was a lot of fun. After we each had a few drinks we set off to find our way back to the hotel and possibly some late night snacks. The whole day and night it was raining, so it was a bit wet and it is supposed to rain all day on Tuesday as well. Good thing we've got umbrellas!
