G'day everyone!
Our Australia days are almost over, it's all gone so fast, but still loads to tell you. Carrying on from where we left off in Hervey Bay, we caught a 12 hour overnight bus to Airlie Beach. A long sleepless journey, but Airlie Beach made up for it all. Danny went out with some friends that night while Josie rested up.
The following day we started our Whitsundays boat trip on the 'Pride of Airlie' blue boat. The weather wasn't great but the all day drinking and fun crew made up for it! We saw a few picturesque views and the beautiful White Haven Beach. We spent our two nights on tour at South Molle Island, which was great. This was an island complex, with a lively bar just for our tour! On our first night we had plenty to eat and drink with everyone which included our good friends form Fraser Island and friends we made on our Noosa Canoe trip. Danny was in bed by 1am while Josie partied hard till 3.30am!
The following morning was a struggle getting up (delicate heads), but we made the boat in time and sailed to another island to experience White Haven Beach. Danny swam in the sea with the stingers, whilst Josie laid on the beach with the girls. More drinks were consumed on the boat after that, with lunch included. We then sailed to a coral area, where you could snorkle in the sea, Danny got in the water and had a go while Josie took one look at the fat fish and opted to stay on board! Our second night at the island was heavier than the first and it was Danny this time propping up the bar at 3.30am while Josie was in bed by midnight!
The next day after a few more hours sailing we were back at the beach. Josie made it down to the lagoon for the afternoon, while Danny slept off his hangover ready for the evening, another heavy night in Airlie Beach!
The following morning we were back on the Premier bus to Cairns, this time a 10 and a half hour journey. We tried to sleep a bit and watched a couple of films to pass the time.
We spent the next three days in Cairns enjoying some amazing weather, 36 degrees. We chilled out by the lagoon and on our roof top hostel pool, ate well and enjoyed a detox...or so we thought, until we bumped into some friends we made earlier up the east coast. So of course we all met up for a night out in Cairns.
Our flight to Perth was at 4am, so the evening before the flight we spent sober in a club with our friends, a different experience! Josie also bumped into a old St. Cats girl, Sarah Wagg. Crazy!
We flew to Perth on 24th March and enjoyed a couple of days in the sunny city. We managed to do a day trip to Rottnest Island which was lovely amongst other sight seeing bits in Perth.
As we had two weeks to spare in Western Australia, we thought it'd be a fun idea to get a campervan for 10 days! Our van was a good size, double bed, cooker, fridge, sink and lots of space! However, Josie was too scared to drive the van, so Danny was the driver and Josie the geographer!!!!
We drove to Cottesloe and Fremantle enjoying some sunbathing time on their beautiful beaches! We also made it to Busselton and walked along their famous rickety 2km jetty! Carrying on further south we reached Margaret River, here we went on a winery tour which was great fun, we visited three different wineries enjoying lots of tasters, swirling the wine around and breathing in the different fruit aromas! We are now true professionals when it comes to wine! Our trip also included a visit to chocolate, cheese, lavender and venison factories and a brewery!
The following day involved more driving (for Danny) down to the south coast to Walpole, where we visited the Valley of the Giants and did the tree top walk. This was a 600m walk suspended 40m high in the tree tops, the bridges were pretty wobbly and Josie felt a little uncomfortable especially as Danny kept wanting his photo taken sitting on the sides! We also visted the Diamond Tree, which is huge!
The next day we had a really big drive, Danny did well to take us back to Perth safely in 5 and a half hours! We then made a short trip north of Perth to Scarborough to watch the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.
This takes us to now, where we are in Perth, back in hostels preparing ourselves for our next adventures in Asia, starting in Singapore on Monday 7th April.
We'll do our very best to keep in touch in Asia, hope you're all well, missing you all. Josie and Danny. XXX
