Kaikoura is a lovely little seaside town, although I didn't notice this the day I arrived because it was raining all day. The day i left Oamaru was pretty un-eventful. We drove back inland to a place called Lake Tekapo. On the way there we stopped at a few places along a river to take pics of Hydro-electric power stations and dams (!) but apart from that we headed straight for the lake. Lake tekapo isn't a very big town, so i was glad that I was only staying there over night. After having a cold for the last two or three days i wanted to spend my first day in Dunedin doing nothing, but when the weather was so nice on Tuesday morning I decided I had to make the most of the day. Yesterday I went on a boat, and I think it was in Milford Sound. It's hard to tell because it was raining so much that you couldn't see much from the boat. They say that going to Milford on a rainy day is good because there are lots of waterfalls. On the way to Wanaka, we stopped at Lake Matheson, which is known for being a mirror lake. I'm not sure how it works but it's so still that it does reflect almost perfectly (it's the one in the picture, but again, it's not one that i've taken). Wanaka is beautiful. Quite a small town but it's on the edge of a lake with mountains all around it. I think it pretty much sums up how beautiful New Zealand is. It's all lakes and mountains.
