Santiago- where do we start?! We had such an amazing time here thanks to the wonderful parents of our spanish teacher in London- Claudia. After a 12 hour overnight bus ride from Pucon, we arrived in Santiago (the capital of Chile-a city of about 4.5million inhabitants) at 09:00 in the morning to Claudia´s dad waiting for us with a sign with our names in it! So nice. we were welcomed like Kings and Queens. It was such a relief to not have to think about where we were going, what we were doing or how we were doing it for a few days. Claudia´s cousin took us back to there apartment at ´Los Orientales´where we put our things down and went back into the city on the metro. It had been such a long time since we had been on the metro and it took us back home a little to our life in London and the underground. The metro was so efficient, clean and inexpensive (Chile had been more expensive than we had originally thought) if a little packed at times. We headed into 'Plaza Del Armas' where Claudia´s dad met us to check everything was alright during his lunch break. The sun shone down hard on us as walked around the city and around the many parks which had numerous viewpoints over the city. The people here were so friendly and as our level of Spanish started to improve, we gained more from the experience and interaction with the local people. We visited many of the Artesan shops and markets where they sold handmade products from Chile and walked around the areas labelled as Londres (London) and Paris. It was so funny to see the buildings which were really similar to those found in these cities in Europe.

That evening Claudia´s mum cooked an amazing meal for us all and we sampled numerous types of food from Chile. The drink of Ponche (White Wine and Pineapple juice) was so nice, the only problem being it tasted like a fruit juice and so went straight to the head We also tried a starter of creamed cheese and pepper/spring onions with crackers and an amazing fish dish with chilies. By the end of the evening our heads hurt from speaking spanish so much (!)- but Claudia´s dad helped out with this as he spoke great English.

We got up late the second day as we were extremely tired. After a strong coffee(!) we headed out into the city again and went to a restaurant called ´Dominos´ for lunch. No it wasn't the pizza kind! We ate ´completos´ under the advice of Claudia´s parents and it was great! They are like a hot dog with avocado, tomoatoes, peppers and mayonaise (plus many more ingredients if you want them!) We sat outside under the parasols for shade and watched the world go by before heading on to see the Government buildings and an amazing art exhibition which was taking place nearby called 'Arte en America'. The exibition was a selection of art from all over the Americas following stories of peoples journeys and their hopes and desires within this continent. Our last stop in Sanitago was ´San Cristobel', an area which was full of artists and students. At the top end of the area there is a hill where you have an amazing view of the city. So we took the funicular up and saw Santiago for the last time.

Following a long day we went out or dinner to a local restautant called 'El Hojo´(One of Claudia´s favourite restaurants!) and ate so many local dishes. We were really fortunate to be able to try all of these as, as tourists it is not always easy to access, if at all. The local drink this time was white wine and pineapple ice cream (i recommend anyone to try this!) and it was called Terremoto (Earthquake).

So our time in Santiago came to an end. What a wonderful city and what wonderful parents you have Claudia!

Santiago, où allons-nous commencer?! Nous avons eu un temps magnifique ici grâce à des parents merveilleux de notre professeur d'espagnol à Londres-Claudia. Après 12 heures de bus de nuit de Pucon, nous sommes arrivés à Santiago (capitale du Chili, une ville d'environ 4,5 millions d'habitants) à 09:00 heures du matin et le papa de Claudia nous attend avec une pancarte avec nos noms dans il! Sympa! nous avons été accueillis comme des rois et des reines. Il a été un tel soulagement de ne pas avoir à réfléchir à où nous allions, ce que nous faisions et comment nous le faisions pour quelques jours. Le cousin de Claudia nous a ramenés à il appartement à 'Los Orientales' où nous mettons les choses et rentra dans la ville en métro. Il avait été si longtemps depuis que nous étions dans le métro et il nous a fallu à la maison un peu à notre vie à Londres et le métro. Le métro a été si efficace, propre et peu coûteuse (le Chili avait été plus cher que nous avions d'abord pensé) si un peu emballé à temps. Nous nous sommes dirigés en «Plaza Del Armas» où le papa de Claudia rencontrés nous pour vérifier que tout allait bien pendant sa pause déjeuner. Le soleil brillait fort sur nous en tant que marché autour de la ville et autour des parcs de nombreux points de vue qui a de nombreux sur la ville. Les gens d'ici ont été très amicaux et que notre niveau d'espagnol a commencé à s'améliorer, nous avons obtenu plus de l'expérience et l'interaction avec la population locale. Nous avons visité de nombreux magasins Artesan et les marchés où ils vendent des produits artisanaux en provenance du Chili et a marché autour des zones étiquetées comme Londres (Londres) et à Paris. Il était si drôle de voir les bâtiments qui étaient vraiment semblables à ceux trouvés dans ces villes en Europe.

Ce soir-là, le maman de Claudia a cuisiné un repas extraordinaire pour nous tous et nous avons échantillonné de nombreux types d'aliments en provenance du Chili. La boisson de Ponche (vin blanc et le jus d'ananas) était si gentil, le seul problème étant qu'il déguste comme un jus de fruit et ainsi alla droit au tete Nous avons aussi essayé un démarreur de crème de fromage et le poivre oignons de printemps / avec des craquelins et un plat de poisson étonnant avec des piments. À la fin de la soirée de nos têtes mal de parler espagnol tellement (!) - Mais le papa de Claudia aidé avec ce qu'il parlait bien anglais.

Nous nous sommes levés tard le deuxième jour que nous étions très fatigués. Après un café fort (!) Nous nous sommes dirigés vers la ville à nouveau et est allé à un restaurant appelé Dominos pour le déjeuner. Non, ce n'était pas le genre de pizza! Nous avons mangé completos en vertu de l'avis des parents de Claudia et c'était génial! Ils sont comme un hot-dog à l'avocat, tomoatoes, les poivrons et la mayonnaise (ainsi que de nombreux ingrédients plus si vous le souhaitez!) Nous nous sommes assis dehors sous les parasols pour l'ombre et j'ai vu passer le monde avant de se diriger sur pour voir les édifices gouvernementaux et d'une étonnante exposition d'art qui se déroule à proximité appelé «Arte en Amérique». L'exposition a été une sélection d'art de partout dans les Amériques suite à des histoires de voyages peuples et leurs espoirs et leurs désirs dans ce continent. Notre dernier arrêt dans Sanitago San Cristobal, une zone qui était plein d'artistes et d'étudiants a été. À l'extrémité supérieure de la zone il ya une colline où vous aurez une vue imprenable de la ville. Nous avons donc pris le funiculaire et j'ai vu Santiago pour la dernière fois.

Après une longue journée nous sommes allés dîner ou à un restautant local appelé El Hojo (un des restaurants de Claudia préférés!) Et a mangé tellement de plats locaux. Nous avons été vraiment chanceux d'être en mesure de juger tous ces que, en tant que touristes, il n'est pas toujours facile d'accès, voire pas du tout. La boisson locale cette fois, c'est le vin blanc et la crème glacée d'ananas (je recommande à quelqu'une de l'imiter!) Et il a été appelé Terremoto (Earthquake).

Donc notre temps à Santiago a pris fin. Qu'est-ce une ville magnifique et ce merveilleux parents vous avez Claudia!
