Kings Cross (the area where we're staying) is absolutely fine during the day! Cafes, shops and lots of people around, you don't even notice the strip clubs... We woke up an hour before our flight was due to leave. Bearing in mind they ask you to be at the airport 2-3 hours before we were pretty stressed. However, we got there and had absolutely no waiting time, just sailed through check-in, security etc and on to the plane. This doesn't mean I would recommend it or that I will ever do it again......
