Dan and Lu's Travels
Went slightly back on ourselves and along Waterfall Way to go to a small place called Bellingen for a few hours.
This looks like old skool Oz, really charming place which seems to be full of knit-your-own-yoghurt people. Every cafe is organic, there are antique shops, a mystical shop full of dream catchers and rune stones, a horse and carriage ride you can take, a gorgeous mosaic outside a mosaic centre(?!) and cafe bars that have live music every nihgt. It also has a fabulous bookshop called Bellingen Book Nook run by a hippie looking guy with long grey hair and the best collection of Penguin classics ever.
We then drove to Coffs Harbour. What a strange place. Lonely Planet says you either hate it or like it but it attracts lots of backpackers and tourists. I really don't know why though. Its not vulgar, tacky or busy enough to hate and I couldn't see anything to like about it.
The jetty and beach area had a few people around, and local teenagers 'jetty jumping' - which we watched for a while. Given, it was overcast so that always makes a place look more drab but still.
The highlight was getting fish 'n' chips (which were excellent) and eating them on the beach.
We decided we'd move on tomorrow!
