So we caught the bus in the unhappy village of Dai Lanh to Danang. The bus was due to go further to Hue for a coach tour
group the next day but made a profitable sideline in
the 10 hour journey to Danang by picking up random
people on the side of the road along the way. It was a great trip,
really fantastic to see the coastal scenery and track
our progress on the map. The driver was a good man and
his sidekick was ruthless in cajoling people onto the
bus and ensuring they were kicked out at their
approximate destination. We too were abandoned
somewhere near Danang, the fourth largest city in
Vietnam. But we walked and walked until we found a
taxi and got dropped off at a random hotel and went
out into civilisation. Unfortunately there isn't much
in the way of things to do in Danang. It is a very
boring and very busy port but it meant that the next
day we could go to Hoi An - a 40 minute bus ride south
along the coast.
