Kuala Lumpur was every bit as hot and steamy as expected and it was a relief to arrive alive after a particulalry suicidal bus journey from Tanah Rata in the Cameron Highlands.
We exchanged contact details with Salman and his wife Fatimah (who was dressed in full black burkha) and activley sought the hotel touts to sort us out with some accomodation. We ended up with had to be the hottest hole of a room you could have possibly found but we were happy and unconcerned and took off into the night for food.
We ended up staying in Kuala Lumpur for over a week, catching up with internet and stayingin the aircon coolness of the futuristic shopping malls. Although Kulal Lumpur is supposed to be one of the most green capital cities it made no difference to the areas we were in around Chinatown which seemed to soak up the heat in the concrete and blast it out all night long only to recharge during the day again. It was through pure lethargy that we failed to move ourselves onwards because it was simply too hot to do anything about it!
We were fortunate to bump into Salman and his wife again along one of the busy streets where they were sitting and taking in the hustle and bustle and passed a happy hour with them and arranged dinner the next day which was lovely.
We left for Malacca having seen pretty much everything KL had to offer, including a theme park that was on floors 8 to 13 of a massive tower which was weird. It had none of the dynamic edge that you would find in other cities and was pleasant enough to drift around in - I suppose that sums up Malaysia in general.
