Day 13 Namibia Windhoek - Botswana Ghanzi (520 KM):
Botswana Bound
A long driving day today and we were also going to cross the border into Botswana.
I made an agreement with Annette on an alcohol free day …… The pact lasted until 1:37 pm when we crossed into Botswana which of course we had to celebrate …… would be quite rude not to.
Tonight our last guest Chris from the US was joining us….. not sure about him but at least another English speaker.
We were now in the Kalahari and in a camp hosted by the by the San people, who decided to perform their local dances for at least a hour with one of the villagers translating the meaning of their songs …….. I fell asleep.
Day 14 Ghanzi - Maun (350 KM):
We were able to have a bit of a lie in …….. 6.15 AM,
Got to our camp Sitatunga outside Maun in time for lunch ….. Small huts in the middle of nowhere with an outdoor shower/toilet but they did have air-conditioning and also electricity 24/7
Fourteen of us opted to take a scenic flight over the Okavanga Delta, They only had one plane which was a seven seater, so we had to split up into 2 groups and the core group of Germans insisted on being together and first …….. But guess what? ….. they were too heavy for the plane!
The guide had too come back into town and collect the other seven (the English rebels) to redistribute the weight. The main issue was Helmut who was 149 Kilos.
Back in camp an hour before dinner - so we had a bit of time to repack for the next 2 days in the Delta, where we can maximum bring 10KG each and only our small bags.
We were promised internet in the bar - but like most places out here the internet connection is either really slow or not working at all - this time the latter.
