Lets take this gig global!!
Hi there folks.
Well for the last time I am checking in to say hello and unfortunately goodbye - well, less of a goodbye, more of a see you soon!
After a pleasant but expectedly strange flight I am now back in Blighty and amazingly it is the most surreal experience of my whole trip! I dont think it has quite sunk in yet. One, the fact that I am home and two, the painful reality that the trip is over!! Surely this is just a quick stopover before the next exotic location right?? Oh, I wish!
Sorting through my stuff this morning, the past 8 months already seems like a dream and distant memory and I have to keep telling myself that I really did do it!!
But I have the proof in my pictures and in the positve effect my trip has had on me. I can honestly say that without doubt it was the best and most enjoyable 8 1/2 months of my life.
In such a time I have travelled by foot, bicycle, motorbike, rickshaw, car, pick-up truck, van, jeep, lorry, bus, coach, plane, train, tram, cable car, kayak, canoe, long-boat, speed boat, sailing boat, ferry, dingy, camels, elephants and horses.
I have crossed oceans, seas, rivers and plains. I have trekked in deserts, climbed up mountains and explored both alpine and tropical rainforests and have done all this in 10 of the most fascinating countries/continents the world has to offer.
To say that it was an 'experience' is an understatement!! Along the way I have met, become friends and shared unforgettable experiences with people from every corner of the globe and feel unbelievably privilaged to have seen things (on almost a daily basis) that most people can only dream of seeing in their entire lifetime.
My time away has undoubtedly shaped and improved my character and I am a more confident and rounded person as a result. It has opended my eyes to all the idiosyncracies that exist in our modern world and bestowed in me a passion to travel and continue to explore cultures and societies which are uniquely more diverse and richer than our own.
However, most importantly it has changed the way that I perceive the world and the way that i want to live my life and for that I am truly grateful.
I hope you have enjoyed reading about my adventures as much as I have enjoyed doing them!! Thanks so much for all the support and emails along the way. I hope to see you all soon for a proper catch up.
For this journey, I bid you farewell. Lets hope the next one can be just as enjoyable!
All the best,
Dan
