Lets take this gig global!!
Alrighty guys,
well the first bit of bad news is that I didnt manage to put my Thailand pics up on the site yet. "oh no" I hear you cry, but put away the hankies and dont dispair as I will try and get round to it soon, I promise.
Anyways on the good side, I got to Sydney fine and am really enjoying it so far. The coach journey was as bearable as any overnight 12 hr journey can be and I managed to get a bed at the Wake up! hostel in the city centre for my first night which was convenient but it was far too expensive for my budget so my first task was to hunt down a better place! Went all round the area then onto Kings Cross (backpacker central) and found a little gem of a place called D*Lux hotel. It looked a little sketchy from the outside and was up against some stiff competition from others such as the Funk House (and it really was!) and Quality Backpackers (wasnt 'quality' but ok) however the cleanliness and big bedrooms with en-suite made D*Lux a clear winner.
The other reason I left Wake up was that it was far too big and everyone was in their own little cliquey groups so had a pretty lonely first day to be honest with you (only spoke to about 3 people- excluding the receptionist!).
Things perked up tho as soon as I moved and I have met tonnes of sound people in D*lux, its got a good little vibe going on.
Anyways, after booking my bed for the following night I didnt really feel like doing too much so I just walked around the CBD area and took it all in and got my first taste of Sydney and first impressions are pretty good to be fair. Its definately a lot more imposing and bigger then Melbourne but still as diverse and easy to get around.. After that I just came back had a quick dinner and hit the sack early to read up on stuff to do in the ol' bible and roughly planned my week ahead..............which you can read about on the following update........
