Woke this morning to an email from AirBnB warning me of a scammer trying to lighten my bank account to the tune of 716 euro. We had in fact tried to book a home through AirBnB in Rome that sounded fantastic. When the guy contacted me by email to take the payment arrangements off the platform, some alarm bells started ringing. I know some places do like to deal directly, thus saving the AirBnB fees, but this guy wanted a money transfer. I received a very good (but fake) email purporting to be from AirBnB, saying it was all good to transfer the money through their Italian bank account…. Ummm… Nup.

You know the old story, if it looks too good to be true, then it usually is…. Lesson learnt.

We headed off for our "skip the line" tour of Galleria del Accademia, the home of my (and probably anyone else that has viewed it) favourite statue "David". We had arrived early, our booked tour was for 10.15am, but there were already queues for the length of the road and about 50m around the corner, maybe 400 people in total… Thank goodness we booked skip the line!

When our contact arrived, we were given tickets and told to join the queue. The queue I enquired? Didn't we pay extra for skip the line tickets ? Yes yes of course Sir, this is the line for the skip the line tickets…. Wot tha ?

As it turned out, there were only about 100 people in our skip the line queue… Happy days…

We wandered the halls of the Accademia for a couple of hours, always circling back to David. This most famous of Michaelangelo' work never ceases to impress, simply, a masterpiece !

Heading back through Duomo, we confirmed our rental car for the morning with Europcar and headed home.

After finalising some more plans, we lazed for the afternoon and headed out to an early dinner about 6.30pm.

We are leaving Florence in the morning and heading for Pisa. Lauren has the need to get a photo of her pushing against the leaning tower. It is only about 90 minutes by car from Florence, on our way to Porto San Stefano, so not much of a deviation.
