After leaving Queenbyan we travelled throughout the day and stopped the night at the free camp at Cann River. Monday saw us travelling onto Marlo to catch up with our travelling buddies, Sheryl and Brian. Sheryl and Brian took us sight seeing around Marlo and Orbost, its great getting local input on an area. We enjoyed catching up, sharing our travel adventures, lunch at the Marlo Pub and chats about our family members. We are so close to home and so looking forward to seeing our family, kids, grandkids and the dogs. Thank you Sheryl and Brian we had a ball and we'll be returning.
After saying our farewells to our Marlo friends, we headed off to Paul and Lisa's place at Duck arm. What can we say, this is such a relaxing place, where you can sit, watch the water and let the time just slowly pass. Wishing we had the boat down here, but not to be. The campfire was lit and out came the camp oven for a cook up of spicy apricot lamb shanks, what a meal, one of our favourites.
The following morning we arrive at Kellie (Alan's daughter) and Damien's place at Bengworden. This is our first visit, since they purchased the property earlier in the year. It was great to catch up with Lillian, Josh, Kellie and Damien. Damien as per usual cooked up a great dinner, then several rounds of Pool was played, between Alan and Damien, with Damien coming in the winner. The weather was pretty cold, we were rugged up but enjoyed the heater in the man shed.
After saying our goodbyes we headed towards Golden Beach. The weather had really turned, strong winds and rain. As it is a long weekend, no campsites were available, so we continued onto Seaspray. After trying to contact friends who have a house at Seaspray, but to no avail at the time, we continued on to McGaurans Beach. The view was amazing, right beside the beach, but way to cold to even step out of DABUS. Bus bound for the night, so drinks and skipbo were the entertainment for the night.
After making contact with Tim (Lorelle's brother-in-law) it was arranged that we would stop the night at their place in Langwarrin. So, yes we are definitely now homeward bound. It's so cold and wet, we are over the cold weather and it gets to the stage that home and with family is where we want to be.
Once in Langwarrin, our first stop was to call into Sheree's home, a surprise for her and where we had a quick catch up with promises to catch up again soon.
Merredea (Lorelle's sister) was none the wiser that we were spending the afternoon with her and Tim, watching the Grand Final and catching up. Sheree, Landon and Ella joined us for breakfast, the following morning. Then onto the last leg home, it's raining but it didn't dampen our mood with being back home.
