Final Stop Phi Phi......
After having a pretty eventful past week in Ko Phangan and Ko Samui me and Sophie were ready for a relaxing 8 days in the sun to bring our travels to a good end. Although we really didnt want to wish our trip away. Phi Phi was an absolutly gorgeous island with beautiful white sands and fairly clear water (only slightly murky because of the sunami). The island itself was very small with it taking 10 minutes to walk from one side to the other (we never imagined it to be so small!) It is a cool island populated by thai and hundreds of backpackers. It has lots of cool bars and restaurants in the small town, and beach clubs.. you party on the beach till early hours in the morning.
Our time in Phi Phi mainly consisted of chilling out through the day on the beach or by the pool (we splashed out on nice accomodation!) and on the evening drinking far too many buckets and raving it out on the beach. A couple of our friends from New Zealand who we got close to were in Thailand the same time as us so came down to Phi Phi to spend our last 6 days with us which was really nice. We did an awesome day trip out which involved us visiting Monkey Island which had some seriously viscious b*****s living on it (if you got bit by one you had to go to hospital straight away according to the thai guides - there is no safety in thailand!) We went snorkling which by far was the best snorkling i have done on the travels. The water was so clear and the fish you saw were incredible. I saw a huge black fish with sharp, dagger teeth. I soon swam off when this thing came towards me!
We kayaked through the creeks which was one of my best experiences i have had. (if you have ever seen beach the film you may understand what i mean) It was so peaceful, the water was crystal clea, the views were beauty and you were tiny in comparisons to the cliff edges next to you. It was an amazing experience! We also visited Maya Bay where the beach was filmed. I was very intrigued about visiting this bay after it being rated so highly but i understand why! It looks exactly like it did in the film - it is gorgeous. If only we could of stayed there longer. Infront of you you would see a gorgeous green, clear sea with mountains raised at either side of it. A small entrance to the bay would be in the distance enclosing the island. You would look down and the white soft sand glistened under your feet. Though if you turned around looking behind you, a deep, heavy forest stood. It was amazing!!
After visiting the bay we cruised back on the boat watching the sunset. This was a pretty cool experience sat outside on the boat watching the night go dark. A really wicked day! Whilst on Phi Phi island we also went to view point which everyone says you must do. We decided to visited this when the sun was setting one night. The view point is really beautiful but also fascinating to think you could of seen the sunami hit Phi Phi from standing here! The scale of the sunami must of been insane! From the view you could see the entire island and little islands surrounding it. We spoke to one lady who told us she thought it had been spoilt as ever since the sunami had hit they built Phi Phi up with too many 2 story buildings and the tourism grew. For us though we thought it was pretty impressive!
I also participated in Thai Boxing on the Phi Phi Island but when i was slightly drunk. Me Sophie and our friends from New Zealand decided to get in the ring, and lets say a few people decided to jump in too, and i got ruined. haha. Some of the moves i was coming out with when looking at the videos are hurrendous! Infact embarrasing!
Other than drinkings lots of leathal buckets with Ross and Chris (which i am glad to be rid of now! the buckets not them haha) bloody samsung, er! We did lots of eating too as it pretty cheap to eat out - £3 - 4 a meal. I got very addicted to Pai Tai, a popular thai meal, and fish. I am going to miss the food!!
Overall Koh Phi Phi was a great end to an absolutly awesome trip! I felt very chilled out and happy. It just a shame it had to end! The island, the people, and the weather will be greatly missed! Cant say the same for the buckets.
I'm coming home!!!.....
