Chris' latest entry
Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland
This spot was the main reason I decided to come to Newfoundland. And it did not disappoint.
The scenery here is very spectacular. It has everything.
Fiords - although technically they are as they did not reach the sea. Ignore this first one
Deep freshwater lakes with steep cliffs that look like a fiord
Other ranges which are less stee…
Brendon Johnston Hi Chris, There are many fine photos here i presume this is another photo in the Cairngorms. My Scottish walking plans are like yourself is to walk the West Highland Way, then the Great Glen Way to Inverness. From here spend some time in the Cairngorms and its wide open spaces. Then go over to the Isle of Skye and get in a couple of scenic train rides as well. When were you in Scotland and how bigger problem were the midges? Im looking September as i gather they are not as bad. I am going to go through your travel blog of the West Highland Way i particulary enjoyed your comment on the Dutch guy who had been propping up the rear but then gets white line fever. Cheers Brendon
re: photo from 19 November 2012Brendon Johnston Hello Chris, We met on the Kepler Track and you gave me this website for your travels. I was the kiwi who hit the wall when i arrived at Iris Burn Hut. I guess you may now be back in Sydney or close to it. How did the cricket go in Dunedin and were you going to Stewart Island? I have been back in Rotorua a couple of weeks and now planning my next travels. By the way after the Kepler i did the Routeburn which was a great hike as well. I enjoyed the Kepler more but that may be simply because i did it first. The epic ridge day from Luxmore Hut to Iris Burn Hut despite how i finished was the highlight of my 5 South Island Walks. Is this photo taken from Helm Crag overlooking Grasmere? When i did the Coast to Coast in England last year i was here with its great views, it may not be but looks familar. I have enjoyed all of your Lake District, Aviemore and Mt Snowdon photos and will post another comment on a photo here and there. Regards Brendon Johnston
