So as i said last post. We are out of Mexico now and are in the States.
The last few days in Mexico where great but very wearing. Due to the high heat and lots of walking in the sun etc we got pretty b*****ed.
We visited a fishing village and saw the flamingo's. Yep told you that....
So the second to last day we do our tour to the famous Chichen Itza. The amazing El Castillo or Pyramid of Kukulkan is massive. This place also boasts the biggest Ball Court of all the sites. There are incredible carvings in the stones all over every building. One area dates back to the 7th century and shows the early construction of the traditional Puuc Maya style of the Yucatan region. the central zone was constructed after the arrival of the Toltecs around the 10th century and it was then that the two cultures mixed to become a stong and smart cultural people.
After the morning in the heat of the dry windy setting of one of the "new' seven wonders of the world we had a great buffet lunch. We then left late afternoon to our final stay in Playa Del Carmen. We really should have gone direct there but the other people with us had to be dropped off at Cancun first and then drop off us. On top of that our driver could not find our hotel.....after much asking and him back and forth as well as me asking we eventually find it and have to trolley our bags down cobbled roads as the place was not open to car traffic!! Pain. Up and out early next day for breakfast then back and packup for trip to airport for flight out !!! Goodbye Mexico it was nice. Our 16 days have gone so fast. Great people amazing sights and places. food is brillant and Everything is interesting everywhere. this was just long enough for us too. So Central America mostly ticked off our list. Onto Miami..next blog....and it's real short xxx
