So after a pretty crappy sleep due to all the road noise from the street below our room which was located right next door to the Portland convention center we left the car and luggage at the hotel and jump onto a street car ...or as we know them trams! Was good easy system to use and understand and an easy way to see around the outer downtown areas. For a whole $4.50 ea we went on the sky tram. This got us a great view of Portland downtown city and also the ship building area. . we did a full loop on the street car and that was plenty. No we didn't go right into downtown etc cause was mainly shops eats and pubs bars etc. Quite a few medical facilities and university's. Overall Portland was OK and there are plenty of hike area surrounding the city as well but we decided to hit the road and do some walking at Mt. St. Helens.
Two hours driving later we arrive at the visitors center for mt St Helens. We do a quick 1.6 k walking trail then go watch a short film about the volcano and the eruption in 1980 that devastated the area. Unfortunately we didn't get to the base and it was fogged in so wouldn't have seen much.
We drove another 1.5 hours to stay the night here in Puyallup. A busy place and only a short drive to our last stop before hitting Seattle. Tomorrow we are going to The Northwest Trek in Eatonville. It's a huge wildlife reserve and thanks to good friend Kathy who told us about it we are looking forward to seeing it. So I'll leave it here a short one tonight. Pix to load and sleep to have. Stay smiling and tune in again soon ..cheers
