Well as you already know we where in Miami. All glitz and glam beautiful high rise's for an amazing nght view. We stayed very close to South Beach. We only had 1 full day so the best way to use it was of course the hop on hop off tour bus. First we did downtown...very interesting. Then we did the South Beach route. Amazing the sights ....you could people watch all day and not get bored We all loved the art deco building and went through the art deco appreciation musuem. So many building to see. We didn't get back till after 6 and then had to be up at 5am for our trip to the airport to fly to Nashville. So whilst a very short trip it was still a blast.
We landed in Nashville, grabbed the bags and into the SuV hire car and we are off!!. While there is a lot to see in Nashville we narrow it down to one main thing The Parthenon.... we just happen to go there on the same day they are having a massive craft fair on the grounds. Brilliant so many amazing talented people here. The Parthenon is fantastic, interesting and huge. I suggest people look it up on the net !!
After a few hours and some lunch in the shade on the lawn we are off and heading to Lynchburg...We decide to stop early today and pick a great hotel on the main road in Shelbyville which is only about 20 minutes from Lynchburg. Great place at a great price of only $78 per room a night. Love it. We decide that there is much to do before going to Lynchburg and decided to have two nights here. So today we went to a place called RUBY FALLS in Chattanooga. You know the place from the song right !!! And yes they do have a Chattanooga choo choo !!
To say Ruby Falls is amazing is an understatement !! By the time we are 40 minutes into our guided tour and by the way our guide Doug was so funny and had us in histerics most of the time, anyway by the 40 minute mark we where over a 1000 feet underground. See the pic's it's just an amazing place. It really is a top ten hidden american treasure.
Next stop only about 5 minutes away we go to ROCK CITY... Atop lookout mountain near Chattanooga. From the very top we get to see 7 states all at once. We are 1700 feet above sea level with sweeping views to die for. Another gem we didn't know existed. Again think you should look it up to really appreciate it. The gardens throughout the Rock city is abotanical and geological wonder. We walk and walk and walk . Up stairs down stairs through extremely narrow rock walls and cross wooden suspensions bridges. Here they have monumental rock formations and so much for kids too. The original owners who started it all and built and amazing stone house on the very top of the mountain back in 1924 where Garnet and Frieda Carter. Frieda had a huge interest in European folklore and so a huge part of the place is an area known as Fairyland. The Fairyland Caverns, Mother goose village and enchanted garden are something to be amazed and amused by. At any age it will bring a smile to your face. So glad we came across the information for these two places.
So tonight we are packed up and ready to leave by about 8am to head to Lynchburg...Jack Daniels Distillary tour a look around the town the heading to Memphis.
It has been a fantastic two days here with more to come. The country side is just green green green and the people here so open and chatty. Love the southern drawl...that's me I'm done so good night to all xxxx
