Hey Everyone,
Im now in Alice Springs. The town itself is hot, dusty and the middle of nowhere as predicted. The trip from Adelaide was mainly driving through desert for about 6 hours a day - joys. looking at nothing but red sand and pale green trees.
The place we stayed at overnight was a small mining opal town called 'coober pedy'. We stayed in an underground cave which was pretty surreal but fun. Followed by a brief tour of the mine and how people in coober pedy live under the ground. reason being that in the summer it can reach up to 50 degrees and winter minus 10 or something. Yet inside its always about 20 degrees.
The hostel im staying at present - Annie's Place is ok but the bathrooms are dirty and the top bunk of the bed has no rail, so u only have a ladder and nothing to hold on to while you climb up - nightmare. Put it this way im glad im leaving tomorrow!
Im on a 6 day tour tomorrow from Alice up to Darwin and it includes Uluru and kings Cayon. Im looking forward to it because we get to sleep under the stars, watch the sunrise & set over ayers rock (uluru). So I won't have phone signal/internet for about a week.
Chat soon when I get to Darwin. love, C xxxxx
