Back on the bus again, up to Rainbow Beach this time! Had 4 nights here in Noosa which have been pretty chilled, unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side...
When we got to the hostel (Flashpackers), we went straight down to Sunshine Beach for a few hours. It was beautiful down there and there was almost nobody in sight! It was also SO hot. By the time lunch came around, we were rather grateful to be getting in the shade with a cool drink. We found this little cafe which did amazing food and even better milkshakes, yum! Wandered back to the hostel and then went to Coles to do our food shopping for the upcoming days. The rest of our afternoon was spent trying to plan the next couple of weeks of our trip as we had no hostels or buses booked. So at least now we are on top of that (I think!) and don't need to do much more booking until we get to Cairns.
The next day we decided to do a coastal walk which was stunning. It took us nearly 4 hours but it was well worth it. We walked along the cliff tops and deserted beaches (including a nudist one where there was a couple of suspicious sorts which was interesting....) The sky and sea were so blue and it was incredibly peaceful. At points, you felt like you were the only ones for miles! We got to go through parts of Noosa National Park. Unfortunately, didn't see any Aussie wildlife except for some pain in the ass wasps. Near the end of the walk, we stopped at a little beach and had a rest and a picnic. It was hard work walking up and down the cliffs! By the time we reached civilisation again, the weather took a dramatic turn for the worst. Within minutes the heavens started to open, refreshing to begin with! We headed back to the hostel where we had an early dinner before going to Hastings Street for a few drinks in the evening, including a tasty berry champagne cocktail. Living the high life (i.e. The cheapest thing on the menu)!
Unfortunately, the weather stayed miserable the entire next day, raining pretty much non stop. And not just spits of rain, but torrential! Even woke us up the night before... We wanted to get out the hostel for a bit so went to the cinema to see 'The Other Woman' which was actually very funny! Aside from that, there wasn't much to do in Noosa that didn't involve sunshine and sea. The evening we spent watching movies with the other guests in the common room.
After being woken up at half 5 in the morning by our very 'respectful' roommates we were pretty tired on Saturday. However, we still got up early and caught the bus down to the Eumundi markets! They were insane! So many stalls and yet none of them were exactly the same, they sold similar things but each had their own twist which I thought was quite unusual really for a market. The best bit was the food stalls. You walked in and were instantly hungry just from all the delicious smells. I treated myself to some homemade fudge in various flavours (coconut and passion fruit were the best!) and we had a yummy lunch too. There was the Carnival of Body Art going on whilst we were there. People were being painted head to toe in wild and creative ways, some of them a little scary. I think there was a show later on in the day but we weren't there to see it. We both also bought these cute silk bracelets which came in a range of colours and patterns, and had little charms attached too! When we got back in the afternoon, we popped to the beach but the weather still hadn't quite got up so it was rather chilly and not really sunbathing weather. Instead we decided to go to a local bar. It was all multi-coloured and they were playing a range of cool music I've not heard before. Such a nice atmosphere and was clearly a place the locals went to for a reason. Due to the weather, we ended up having another chilled evening. We played Uno and watched a film before going up to pack our stuff.
Unfortunately, my phone has been having some serious issues over the last couple of days. My wifi greyed out which means I can't access anything to do with the internet. Also means I can't get my photos or back them up anywhere... Gah!! It keeps coming back for maybe 5 minutes at a time and that's only because I keep hairdrying it... I saw it on YouTube, don't judge me! Plus it has actually helped. I think there's a loose connection which sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. There are no Apple shops at all in the north of Australia so unless some kind person in a phone shop wants to help me, I would have to fly back down south. Rather a lot of effort, we'll have to see how it goes...
Till next time :)
