Hey were now writing from Pattaya - town of lady boys, 'Boys town' prossies, sex shows and the rest! anyway 2 days ago we were in Kanchanaburi.
Here we did an amasing tour of Erawen national park, the River Kwai and the Death railway during the bamboo rafting we could jump off in our life jackets and the current would drag you peacefully along, without the need for swimming. it was a real life lazy river. The elephant riding was definately an experience, not so nice was the fact that they sneeze with their trunks in the air so it goes all over you! See the photos they sum it all up. the first night we spent on the island as previously described, the second night we were there we looked for somewhere a bit more lively. On first appearances what we found looked lovely, wooden bungalows on the river front. It was only when a massive cockroach fell from a hole in the ceiling that Sam freaked out. It was bloody massive. She previously stood on a frog and there were all sorts of creppy crawlies about. thats what you get for cheap wooden 5 pounds a night jobbie. After a swift pack of bags sam marched off in pursuit of getting moved to a more solid room. We were completely gassed out from to much manic spraying of bug killer.
Thursday we decided to leave for the South starting in Pattaya. We got there after a full days travel on bus to yet again ( you guessed it) more water fights. We didn't realise that The Thai's celebtate new year at different times in different places of the country. So arriving at 7 at night and pleading every taxi driver to take us anywhere, we were just about giving up hope of finding a room for the night. There seemed to be a number of blank looking westerners with the same dilemma. Any way we managed to all charter a pick up truck to take us somewhere (no one really books accomodation in advance). However with it still being holiday season, everywhere was coming up no vacancies. Anyway to cut a long story short, along with another couple a lovely thai girl found us a room. We decided that we might as well give in and join in the festive spirit. The couple we were with had previously met a bunch of lads and after many a bottle of 'Chang' we thought we would try the local speciality (sorry parents) 150 Baht (2 pounds) showed us 'ping pong' dart throwing (with out using hands if you didn't getthat) and you get where were going! V funny! One of the blokes we were with was t-shirt less after too much drenching, that when we went to one bar they refused him entry. He went off in seach of buying a t shirt and came back with an 11 year old girls crop top! he said it was the only thing on sale! Hilarious! no pics unfortunately, camer would have got drenched! Any way we got in at 3am craig woke up at 6 hugging th dirty toilet seat. nice.
Today we sobered up on the beach. v relaxing.
Tomorrow we are heading back up to Bangkok to then catch a train to the South islands to start our diving course in Koa Toa.
