LOVE the photos! The one with the two horses made me laugh. I like the beginning of the trek photo of you both. The army ponchos look like the works! Some of the horses look like mules. Are they mules? Or just a bit thin? Lots of love, X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X

Hi again, Jenny and Craig, think you had better tell us soon what you are actually eating out there, like a range of healthy vegetables and finally get everyone off the topic of the unmentionable rodents. As you are by the coast there must be a variety of fish to be had too. Hope you are enjoying Arequipa and the weather is staying good for you. Lots of love, mum x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x

Gloria Palacios director of La Molina University in Peru now exports 1000 super Guinea Pigs a month to the US, Japan & Europe as food. A trickle for now perhaps but the flood will come. I also heard a rumour that Kentucky Fried Chicken inc have just register the site domain KFGP.com Watch this space for further breaking news.
I am determined to have more entries on this message board than anyone else but unfortunately I have to solve some complicated arithmetic each time and I am currently only getting one in ten correct.
PS Keep enjoying your holiday and let us know what is happening. Photos would help.
A Squirrel Writes
I was hurt and angry at your recent correspondent's suggestion that squirrels are in some way inferior to Guinea Pigs. On the contrary due to our diet we have a sweet and nutty taste (think snickers bar with a bushy tail). Anyone who disagrees is nuts and we squirrels know what to do with those.
(name and address withheld for fear of Guinea Pig reprisals).

Wow - I really need to learn how to type xxx

We might make jokes about them but Peruvians eat an estimated 65 million Guinea Pigs per year and it is a major source of protein in their diet.
A new super guinea pig or 'Peruvian Breed' has been developed which weighs 2.5 lbs compared to the average standard GP weighing 1lb 1 oz. Could be an investment opportunity for any cash squirrelled away. Just to clarify; invest in Guinea Pigs not squirrels. You heard it here first.

Hiya Both
Glad to learn of your adventures. How glorious. Will be looking at hotels in Lima on the 14th for you. More later. Dad xx
By the way how much is a guinea pig?

Hope things are going well and the weather is better than it is here. Can you eat Pelicans ?
Good news: Aldi's in Gala are doing 6 frozen Hamsters for £2.99 so I have put aside a few packs in case the Guinea Pigs run out.
PS Say hello to the Dalai Llama if you see him.

Hi both,
Glad to hear you are both well and chilling in Chile! We are chilling too, but in a very different way! We are unable to open your photos unfortunately, unless we are being totally thick....no comments on that one thanks Craig. Will look forward to seeing them when you get back. Enjoy! S,C,A,L xx

Wish I could emerge from bed and watch pelicans too! I hardly dare get out of bed; it is so cold and blizzarding here. So Chilly it is, not in a good way like yours. My wildlife consists of watching the little birds at Nanna's house arriving for their nuts on the feeder! And the woodpeckers which seem to be stirring into action. Do they think it is spring? They are very wrong.
