Hey all,
We went to Barcelona just before we came home. We took a train to London and then flew from there to Barcelona, Spain. It was warm there, in the 70's. We arrived on Friday and then left on Sunday. It was nice there and it was nice that it was light out until after 6:00p.m. Usually it was dark by 4:00p.m. in Wales.
We saw the Las Sagrada Familia. It is a church that is still being constructed and has been since the early 1900's . It was designed by Gaudi, who has some really cool architecture in Barcelona. They think it will take another 20 or 30 years to finish the church. It was really neat inside. It had some really cool architecture.
We also saw the olympic stadium, you were supposed to be able to go in it but we never found the entrance. They were doing construction so we think you couldn't actually go in it at the time. We saw the inside of it from the road when we were on our bus tour however. It is huge! It seats 99,000 people and is the third largest stadium in the world. We saw the two towers where they housed all the athletes as well as the building where the pool was. We tried to go to the museum to but it was closed due to construction.
At night we went to the magic fountain. It is a really big fountain that lights up and the water shoots up in different patterns. They put it to music and it was about a 20 minute show. It was one of our favorite things.
One of our other favorite things was the beach. It was warm so we rolled our pants up and just had t-shirts on...it was nice. We sat on the beach for quite a while just enjoying the sun and watching the surfers. We each stood in the water for a little while...it was kinda cold however. I fell asleep on the beach for a little bit while Craig watched the surfers.
We went to the aquarium, which is supposedly one of the best in the world. We thought it was kinda small, but it was still fun. They had a tunnel, a long one, that you could walk under and see sharks and other fish, it was much like the one at the Omaha Zoo. It was fun.
Our last day there we took a sightseeing bus tour all day because we didn't want to walk around all day with our backpacks. We took to tours on the same ticket. Each tour lasted about 2 hours. They took you all over the city and outside of the city. It was a relaxing way to see all the sights.
Barcelona was fun and nice and warm...it wasn't however our most favorite trip, but it was still enjoyable and we are glad we went!
Love,
Craig and Audrey
