Hey everybody! We have a change in blog authors (this is Cutter) and hopefully I can fill you all in on todays excursion as well as Hunter has the past few updates. Well today we woke up around 10:30 and had our free breakfast at the hostel, just simple bowls of cereal. We took showers and got ready and packed our daypack and went out. Our mission was to find the train station and get tickets because on this train we had to reserve our seats. The walk there was filled with beautiful views, and we took many pictures on the way. Hunter and I are still amazed that the drivers here dont get into fender benders all the time, because the tight roads are made of cobblestones and tour buses infest the streets everywhere. But in turn there are a lot of cool foreign cars and motorcycles whizzing by everywhere, and its just a cool environment to look at as you´re walking. So we finally found the train station and got tickets successfully, and on the walk back to our hostel we stopped at two churches and got lunch. The Churchs were big and elaborate, and Hunter and i walked into each one. They were both made before America was even founded (which we found interesting) and one was even dated back to 1100. It was amazing the amount of architectural detail. They were Huge! Lunch was alright, we tried portugese hamburgers and ate at a little restaurant bordering a busy street. Afterwards, we exchanged more money and debated going back to our hostel or trying to get up to a beautiful huge Castle (St. Jorge Castle to be exact) that we saw overlooking all of the city. It looked like a long hike, but we decided to go for it. When we reached the outside of the castle we read that entrance was 10£ and realized that was a bit too much for our budget, so we made do looking through gates and openings to see what it was like. It seemed like a conventional abandoned castle, filled with large wooden gates and huge windows. we bought two fantas and a snickers and hiked back to our hostel. Overall it was a productive long days hike! So now we are at the hostel and its about 7, and Hunter has done an excellent job planning, and i do as much as i can to help out. We leave in about an hour and a half to get on the train, and hopefully we can write our next update tomorrow if we have internet at our hostel! until then, cheers!
