I have never seen rain lilke it!!!!!! Arriving in Hoi An was an experience in itself. Rain was coming down in sheets! The road looked like a river and people were driving their little mopeds with plastic raincoats on through about 60cm's of water! It was mental. The bus stopped outside a guesthouse and James and I jumped off to check it out..as you walked just passed reception there was a swimming pool..we were sold already! The room was nice but quite expensive compared to what we had been paying but still really, really cheap! 5 US dollars each.
The weather was so bad so we decided to have a swim and then get some food. Luckily the rain held off when we walked into the town. The food was yummy which made a nice change. Lisa, Laura and I were shattered so we went back to the guesthouse and watched films in our room.. it's so nice having a TV with HBO and the other film channels as you can chill out as you like. Lisa fell asleep and Laura loves taking pictures of her when shes asleep so we got loads of chocolate bars and a bottle of vodka and laid them around her and took loads of pictures... wont seem funny to you guys reading it.. but trying to stay quiet when you are trying so hard not to wet yourself laughing is a hard task!
Hoi An is the place to go if you want to get tailored dresses, suits, coats and whatever you so desire so we all decided to take advantage of this! There are hundreds and hundreds of tailors you cant even imagine! We went to a recommended tailors and flicked through loads of magazines to see what we fancied getting made. I saw a dress with frills around the neck and a tie in the middle, it was absolutely lovely so i decided to get it made in a purple silk...i was really excited about it but quite nervous as it's made especially for you. I got measured and off the lady went. I then went to a tailors next door and chose 2 sundresses to be made. They knocked all these dresses up over night and they do actually made them within the hour but we couldnt be bothered to go back into town so we went the next day for our first fitting. My purple dress was amazing, 30 US dollars... the only alteration was the length... you could almost see my undies before it was changed! When the other girls were trying on their dresses i was flicking through a magazine and a gorgeous white dress jumped out at me... not a wedding dress.. and i decided to have that made too... a rip off of a maxmara dress infact..all i did was get the neckline changed. I had the sundresses alterated and wasnt that impressed with those but they werent anything special anyway.
That evening we had dinner by the river and it was beautiful. Overlooking the little wooden boats and they lit little lanterns which were floating off down the river. It was just last year in Oc/Nov 07 that Hoi An flooded upto the 2nd storey of the houses. We found a little wine bar where Lisa and I enjoyed our first glass of proper red wine in I cant remember how long! We met a nice german woman there who lived in Hoi An and was telling us all about living in Vietnam which was really interesting. The weather was still ridiculous but we were off to Nha Tran which was suppose to have a gorgeous beach.....x
