Phillip Island is well known for its little penguins that come up onto the beach at night. It is a big tourist attraction so we had booked a day trip. We were picked up at 11am, which was great cos it meant we could have a nice sleep! On the bus we met Steph, an 18 year old nutter from Bournemouth. She was so lovely and we clicked straight away. The tour started off at Gurdies Winery for some wine tasting…luckily it was past 1pm by this time but no lunch was had before hand…. We tasted some nice and some not-so-nice wines and sherries before realising we were slightly merry. The vineyard was beautiful and the views across the valley were gorgeous. It made me really excited that I'm going to the West Coast and that I can go wine tasting in Margaret River….they do the nicest wines ever!!! The next stop was Fauna Park (our lunch and animal stop) we got to see a baby wombat, it was so cute and fat I wanted to bring him home... we also saw Tassie devils, a little pony, horrible emu'sand we also fed Kangaroos…..the kangaroos at Australia zoo were nothing compared to the beasts at Fauna Park, after hearing rumours that they are tranquilised in Steve Irwins zoo I think its now true…we went into the enclosure to feed them and Steph threw her food at me as she was so scared. These huge bouncing creatures made a lunge for me and this massive kangaroo was so desperate for my food that he scratched my arm up! I looked like a flippin' self harmer! Anyways, that was hilarious…in the end. We also saw this parrot that said "ooooooh ello poppet" and laughed a bit like me…which was slightly unnerving. We had lunch there and then we were on our way to Phillip Island. We stopped to take some nice pictures and these random Asian people asked that us 3 girls would be in their picture….so we posed and decided to get a pic ourselves…random. We were told on the bus that due to the amount of people that are there you cannot take pictures of the penguins on the beach but can have your picture taken against a green screen, at first we thought it was naff but then decided to do it anyway….the pic is hilarious and we all look a bit "special!" We went outside once it was dark at around 5:45pm and sat on the beach waiting... sure enough these cute little penguins came onto the beach…they are sooo lovely. On the way back it was Pizza and then home…It was a really nice day and for $99…..what would 50 quid get you at home??! We were back in our flat by 10pm and a great time was had by all
