August 29: One thing that has impressed me about Africans has been their pride in their work. We were just at a gas station and the young man served us with a confidence that we certainly never see in a white-person doing the same job. They work hard at menial jobs as often they are the only ones in their families who can find a job. Today is our last day in Southern Africa. Hello from sunny Windhoek, Namibia! Man, people weren't joking when they designated Namibia as a desert! Not a whole lot of water or anything else here in this country, which is part of its draw. Greetings from Cape Town! We left Oudtshoorn with a trip to Cheetahland. We had an incredible time. The tour was very informative. That said, the best part was petting the cheetahs which was the main reason why we went. Of all the big cats, cheetahs purr and they purr loudly! They were pretty docile but it was quite hot that day so they were being just lazy cats sleeping their on average of 18 hours a day (Scooter is above average and sleeps 20 hours a day! ...
