Well well it has been a while! Last I emailed we were in the Grampians! We got up from there and got a few inches away from wild kangaroos which was awesome. U shld c them jump!
So we drove from halls gap to Adelaide...only 500 km! Got to drop off the car and the woman there was a k*** and wouldn't accept the car at 18:01 as we had to drop it off by 18:00. We had to drive to Adelaide airport to drop it off and get a bus back into town! Good riddance! f*** off europcar and thanks for nothing!
Adelaide was so good. Such a cool little city. We had food and walked around a bit and were going to go to the cinema until they told us they wanted $36 for 2 people. Yeh ok! Next morning we got up at 6 for our vineyard tour and called the company to ask them where we get picked up from and she said they've cancelled the tour as it was just me and emilie. Wtf? I was like "were u ever gonna tell us?" She said she never had our details as we booked thru sta travel! Why didn't they ask them? Anyway, I asked her if we could be put on another one and she gladly obliged and told us we'd be picked up at half 8. We went to 4 different wineries and got lots of free wine which was cool and en route also got to see the worlds largest rocking horse! At the end we went to a dam which is nicknamed the whispering wall...if you stand at one end the shape of the dam gives it acoustic properties and you can hear someone at the other end. This was a total fluke and not discovered until sometime after its construction. I still reckon there's a hidden mic and loudspeaker!
Early night as had to meet to start the tour at 7am nxt day. Got there and the tour guide shane tells me I'm the only guy and there are 15 girls on the tour! The girls are from all over... Oz, nz, Switzerland, Belgium, England, Canada, Israel, Italy. I think that's it! Got to meet those girls at breakfast and loaded up the bus to drive to quorn where we checked in and climbed a mountain called the dutchman stern. 5km to the top! Views were amazing once we made it up!
Next day had breakfast at 8am and set off to wilpena national park where we climbed olsens bagge. Then we went to check out some aboriginal paintings in a cave which was cool!
The following day we drove from quorn to Coober pedy. We had a tour of the town and one of the opal mines (It's the opal capital of the world). Most people there live underground in old mine shafts! We were told lots of Greek people live there and I spoke to a Greek guy at the gift shop who had lived there for 39 years! By choice! There is more to do in lympia! After dinner (greek pizzaria) we went to a kangaroo orphanage. They are amazing! We got to feed them (wasabi peas!), stroke them, watch them bounce, fight, play etc! Emilie bought a didgeridoo too! We got back and headed to bed at about 11 as we had to be up at half 4 am nxt day! Yep.
Left Coober pedy at 5:02 and drove for about 10 hours to yalara to make sure we made it in time for sunset at ayers rock! That was superb! It is f***ing huge! Pictures don't do it justice! Got to touch the rock and were told lots of stories about it. Back to town for food and sleep and got up this morning at 5:30 so had a lie in! That was to make it to ayers rock for sunrise which was even better than sunset. Simply stunning!
Then we went to kata tjuta (more mountains/rocks) had an 8k walk and headed back to town for lunch before heading to kings canyon later which is a 3 hour drive. C Xxx
