My picture for this blog is just after completing my PADI scuba diver course and Im happy to say it all went well and Im very much looking forward to trying some more diving in Thailand. On my first day out on the boat I was seasick for the first time ever (on my birthday as well!), i think from having to set up my scuba gear while we were travelling to the dive site in rougher seas than usual. I was luckily fine once I was under the water, although sick again when I was back on the boat! The second day went a lot better and was much calmer water and I really enjoyed my 2 dives, which were around some volcanic rock formations offshore from Manuel Antonio national park. I saw lots of colourful fish, a moray eel and a baby shark.
After all the activities in the previous week and the scuba diving I then had 2 days relaxing at a hostel in Manuel Antonio. The hostel is called Vista Serena and has an amazing ocean view from the terrace with lots of hammocks to rest in : )
The national park has lots of white sand beaches and I spent one of my days in the park and on the beach where there are tiny hermit crabs everywhere which keep it really clean. The water was the warmest so far in Costa Rica and I could see some howler monkeys in the trees as I was sunbathing!
Ive now arrived at Jaco Beach and have settled in well to the spanish school. Its been good to learn with a Costa Rican teacher and I seem to be getting on ok with it so far. I had my first yoga class last night and there are lots of great people here from all over Europe and the US.
Im just starting to get a good sun tan now, its very strange looking at the pictures of all the snow back home!
