Hello everybody!
Just spent our first day in Chiang Mai, so thought we'd let you know how Phuket went...
(For Guy's benefit...) We went diving and saw loads of fish, then we went and ate some fish in a big old building that was fascinating - from an architectural point-of-view and everybody understood us perfectly throughout our stay. The end.
Actually...we started to get out a bit in Phuket, starting with a night in nearby Patong where Cooper recommended we go to the Simon Cabaret. Watching ladies in skimpies prancing around on stage seemed like a fine plan to me and so we headed off for the night. All would be fine, except ladies in Thailand aren't necessarily what they seem and in fact as Katie recalled, the show was largely comprised of 'ladyboys'!! Intrigued and a little uneasy we went along. It was actually a really good night, the performers of various sexes although completely unable to mime were really entertaining.
We enjoyed all the sequiney goodness and have decided that we will go to a proper show in Vegas!
I may've mentioned that I've been thinking about getting some golf in while in Thailand as they boast some of the best courses in Asia and none other than Tiger Woods holds the course record at Phuket's Blue Canyon course. With no allusions to equal this, we went to Dino Park's Mini Golf! A nice little 18-holes lined with water, rocks, a volcano and big scary dinosaurs!!
Katie took an early lead and held off my best efforts (including a hole-in-one) and beat me by two shots! I put this down to the meal I'd just eaten, a self-cooked mixed BBQ. Quite peculiarly really, as having picked this off the menu, I was presented with a plateful of raw meat and fish as well as a table-top barbecue!! A bit of fun, but left me wondering what I was paying for!?!!? Anywho, like I say, it was probably an under-cooked prawn that put me off my stroke I'd guess! A few nights later, without such adventurous dining experiences, I took my vengeance and defeated Cooper by the same margin!
Other than this we largely lounged by the pool, so I hope these other events are enough for our critical receivers?!
Just finally then, to allay all your fears (or hopes?!?!) we saw nothing more of 'Harry' the spider and can only assume he continues his life fit and well with his family!
That's all for now folks!
Love, Nick and Katie
