Blimey! It's been a long time even for our poorest standards of bloggation! To be fair, there's been lots going on as you will discover!
I'll fill you in on our time to Brisbane, and from there we'll be getting a little lazy and having some guest-bloggers update you on our time from there!
So, leaving lovely Airlie we continued south on the 'Bruce Highway' as the main road is handily named! Along our route was the town of Bundaberg, which happens to be famous for its Rum! We emptied their distilleries and our wallets and headed on again and reached Brisbane!
We had barely had enough time to explore before it was time to head to the Airport!
No, not for our departure, but for Chris and Mick's arrival! We had prepared ourselves fully by purchasing a large piece of yellow card on which, in bright red letters, said "G'DAY MUMMY & DADDY COOPER // Welcome to Australia"
Very excitingly they'd bought some PG Tips and on our return to our apartment accommodation. A brew was quickly on!
In a few days in Brisbane we took ourselves in the ever-reliable Bruce north to Mooloolaba (brilliantly named!) to the Underwater World. That was ace, showing Chris and Mick all the fish we've seen when we've been diving! We also saw a seal show, and hilariously, the 'volunteer from the audience' fell into the pool with the seals while he was meant to be feeding one! We wondered whether it had all been set-up, but he genuinely looked terrified, which made it all the funnier!
Another day we took ourselves off to Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin's legacy). The guy was clearly a genius as the place was AMAZING! The show they put on there was fantastic and we spent a great day meandering through fields of Kangaroos (that we fed!), past enclosures for Crocs and Tigers and under trees occupied with cuddly koalas (They are really very soft! Though apparently not appropriate for cuddling!)
Brisbane seemed an ok place to spend a few days...not the best city I've ever been to but by no means the worst. I can kind of understand why people are a bit non-plussed by it, especially when you compare it to Sydney (from where I am writing now - but more on that later!!)
The best bit about Brisbane was it meant it was time for Ma and Pa to arrive, hooray! And after a few days of getting over jet lag and cooking me some longed for chili con carne, it was time to load up the beast that is Brucie and set off on our road trippin' to Sydney!! Ahoy!!
