Okay...sorry it's been so long everyone, I wonder if you're still checking this?!?!
So, we were looking for work, and looking and looking and looking! It was VERY dull so no need to bore you with the finer details! All you need to know is that two weeks later we have had no job and will move on to pastures new!
Besides our hunting we managed to still have a reasonably good time doing the following stuff...
Well, while we were staying close to the city centre we called in on a couple of tourist attractions including the Maritime Museum - where we went on an actual submarine! Very cool, though quite cramped and claustrophobic! We also went to Wildlife World - saw some very 'chilled' Kangaroos, more cute Koala's and Katie fell in love with a hairy nosed Wombat! She now wants one as a pet, to add to the hundreds of other animals! Next door was Sydney Aquararium, and you know us...we love aquariums! So in we went, and we saw crocodiles, loads of fishies, sharks, rays etc but most cool were the Dugongs (what Aussies call Manitees). They eat LOADS of lettuce and have funny looking faces! We liked them LOTS!
We got a bit fed-up in the hostel/in the city, so we moved out to Manly into an apartment for a week where we were far more comfortable and we got to watch a good deal of the Ashes (Katie learnt a great deal about cricket, and actually quite enjoyed it!) and there were even highlights of the golf! Brilliant!
We didn't just watch TV though for the week, we also went to the cinema and watched Harry Potter (again, very good!) and we even ventured back into the city to visit the Sky Tower from the top of which were 360-degree views over Sydney and beyond! Perhaps most excitingly though, we visited Palm Beach - or to all of you, Summer Bay! The beachy set of 'Home and Away'!! It was very nice, but sadly the cast are on their holidays! No Alf, no Coleen, no nobody!
To be honest, by this time we'd more-or-less given up on finding a job, and so with one place of interest remaining - we headed there - to here, Bondi Beach!
The beach is very nice, but then all the beaches in Oz seem lovely! We took ourselves for a walk today along the cliffs and were able to see some Whales larking about surprisingly close to shore!
So, we've enjoyed Sydney, but are now looking forward to getting back in Brucie and back on the road! We've not been in one place as long as we've been in and around Sydney for nearly six months and we need to get back to what we know! Road-trippin'!
In other and totally unrelated but very exciting news - we are both over the moon that not long after we return home there is going to be a new addition to the family (on the Cooper side) in the form of a new niece or nephew!! Yey!! Congrats Lucy and 'nice work' Martin!
Love to you all
