Hello everyone! Firstly, sorry the pics we put up aren't working, not our fault honest!
Righty then, our only full day in KL (Kuala Lumpur) we decided should be devoted to going to the Petronas towers and around what is known as 'The Golden Triangle' - three roads which surround the City Centre.
At our first glimpse of the Petronas Towers we ensured a good few photos (to follow - hopefully!) and headed for a nearby aquarium where we took lots more photos and I held a starfish!
With Cooper's stomach on the mend we both went for a meal...a bad move as it turned out as this left her in lots of pain, so we returned to the hotel for further relaxation before our trip to the Cameron Highlands the next day. (It was in KL that night that we got our Malaysian McDonalds - we're aiming for at least one in each country!)
Our arrival in Tapah Rata (Cameron Highlands) was decidedly wet! Fortunately the lodgings we'd opted for weren't far and were offered a lift from a tout! There's lots to see and do in the Highlands including jungle trekking, waterfall swimming, and various mountain related adventures but with Cooper's unresolved tummy to think of we went for a somewhat reserved tour which was absolutely brilliant!
We went to tea plantations, strawberry fields, a rose garden centre, a bee farm, a buddhist temple and all sorts for the afternoon and really enjoyed ourselves! As for the trekking, there are hundreds of opportunities all over Asia if/when we want to do so and it was nice to see the things which clearly make Malaysians really proud - they love the strawberries! You can get strawberry slippers, umbrellas, bags, jackets, etc and of course actual strawberries, they're very nice!
Having enjoyed ourselves in Singapore so much and deciding to go back a little sooner, this left us with one remaining day before our night train from Ipoh. Having heard that the roads could offer trouble... we gave ourselves plenty of time leaving on the 11am bus...of course there were no problemos and we were left at Ipoh railway station (a fantastic building) with 5 hours to wait. With practically no Malaysian money left we couldn't afford to eat or drink much so shared a plate of chips and some water while we read to pass the time...during which time there was the most tremendous thunder storm directly over our heads! It was SO loud and the lightning so very close. Fortunately it soon passed, as did we safely back to Singapore!
That's all from Nixon for now! Love to everyone and hopefully next time we'll sort out the pics! xxx
