Chào bạn to you all. (Hello in Vietamese)
We are now in Hoi An, which is half way up the coast of Vietnam sitting in jumpers and trousers as it is getting cold!!!!!!
Oh, i forgot to write on the last blog, that the first night we arrived in Vietnam, all 16 of us rented a moped with a driver and we got driven up a mountain to watch the sunset and have a few beers! Was amazing!
So...... currently.......
We have had quite an eventful time since we last wrote to you in Ho Chi Minh city. I shall explain.... So we left our group, which was quite sad, and stayed an extra night in the hotel. We had booked a coach for the next afternoon to take us to a place that our lonely planet guide recommended (Lonely Planet is like our bible, without it we would be lost!), called Mui Ne. The night before we left Ho Chi Minh, we wandered in to the night market to have a look and then gave in and went to KFC again!!! This time, however, it was so much better. It actually had chicken in my Zinger burger and not dog!!
We scoffed that then went and fell asleep ready for early start the next day. Woke up at 6.30 and packed, then we lugged our massive bags across the town to the bus stop. It was a six hour journey so we had ipods charged, snacks at the ready and lonely planet in hand!
We made it to Mui Ne at around 2pm and as soon as we got off the bus we got pounced on by loads of bloody taxi drivers all offering us a hotel to stay in. Seeing as we didnt have a hotel yet, we turned down all of them, just coz i thought they were all rude and didnt want to give them the satisfaction of giving them commission lol. So we walked ... and walked .... and walked until we found a cheap and cheerful hotel above an optician. We booked two nights there for 28 dollars, which we had to beg for as she originally wanted 34!!
After settling in we went exploring to the beach and then went to book our next sleeper bus (the 17 hour b******!) and we managed to get it for three pound! It wasnt really hot enough for beach so we just went back to hotel before going out for dinner. It was a really quiet town so not much was happening. The next day we went to the sand dunes. We were so excited and when we got there they looked amazing! Some little kids took us up on them and our fitness was shown up, as when we got to the top we were struggling to breathe and they were laughing at us. I didnt really go down very fast as i think i was too heavy but lauren flew down!! It was good thing to do and got some amazing pics. That night just went for dinner and made the most of the 30p beers lol.
Bus left for Hoi An at 1 pm the next day and when we got on it was so surreal. It was a sleeper bus and had bunk beds on it!! We were on that one for 5 hours then changed to another one. Typical, we got put at the back next to two bloody Germans, who wouldnt shut up. I was getting irritable as i couldnt sleep and Lauren was snooring away in my earhole lol. Also the drivers out here love to use their horn and our driver was definatley horn happy lol. At about 3am Lauren woke up from the horn, shouted SHUT UP and then straight back to sleep lol.
Arrived in Hoi An at 7am this morning, and got a beautiful hotel for only 15 dollar a night. It is the best hotel so far!! I am having some linen trousers tailor made atm as this is known as the 'tailor town'. Then, as we were having breafast we saw our old group cycle past lol. We shouted at them and are currently in their hotel now. Meeting them all later to go to the Old Town and let off candles and lanterns down the river! Should be amazing!
Looking to move on from here in two days and go up to Hanoi, either by overnight train or overnight bus, either way it is a long journey.
Hope everyone is well! Any news????????
Miss you and Love you all
