Cinque Terre ....... what can we say but a beautifu part of Italy. Strung along 18km of serated cliffs between Levanto and La Spezia. Five higgledy piggledy villages Monterossa (best beach award), Vernazza (where we stayed), Corniglia, Manorola and Riomaggiore (largst of the five).
It is only at each train station that you see the ocean, as the train travels through tunnels virtually the whole distance. Once we left the train station at Vernazza, I became the packhorse as our accommodation was 15 minutes out of town. 411 steep steps later, and a bit of panting, we reached our oasis perched on the side of the cliff. The hike was worth it as the view from the balcony was magic, spellbinding.
The next two days we spent exploring the five towns and cooling off in the sea. Hopefully the pictures will do this place justice. (Pictures still to be uploaded)
