Happy Birthday to Me!!! Surprise, Steph brought me coffee in bed and then gave me an unexpected birthday gift, a Russian towel to embroider. This morning we had three briefings, Russian history, Russian language, and disembarkation information. I had minestrone soup, turkey fillet crusted in almond with orange sauce, corn blinis, and ice cream with fruit sauce. My next surprise occurred when the family lured me to Gary and Evelyn's room for wine and sweets and my next birthday gift of a miniature water color of the Church of the Split Blood in St. Petersburg. Beautiful! My next surprise occurred at the museum in Yaroslavl where they had a musical concert complete with champagne and appetizers. Along with the music, they demonstrated a 17th century dance and taught us the language of love using a ladies fan. Dinner that night was chicken salad appetizer, potato soup with mushrooms, beef stroganoff with beets in a sour cream sauce and blini with ice cream and fruit sauce. The night ended with my final surprise, a birthday serenade, card, and cake with candles that wouldn't blow out for endless wishes. So thank you Keith for my wonderful trip to Russia for my birthday.
