Paul's Adventures
After leaving Santiago we headed to the coastal town of Pichilemu a small town around three hours west of santiago we arrived in the middle of Chilean week so a lot of celebrations were schedule for this week. We arrived around 6 in the evening we tried to heading to cabanas vista a hostel that is located just on the outskirts of the town could we find it no way we walk for hours with our backpacks eventually we asked a local shop keeper to phone the number we had she did this for us and we eventually found out that the couple was away for the weekend sods law. So we headed back to town on the way we stumbled across some cabanas to hire Cabanas meaning self-contained rooms.
It basically consisted of 2 single beds TV and toilet, small but it would do, we put our stuff in and headed to town.
Town was only 20 min walk so we was soon there, by this time we was ready for a beer so we had a quick walk around the town, the town is not very big so it didn't take us long. We came across a nice looking bar so we headed inside the owner was very friendly so we sat down and had a few beers and a few more the owner gave us a few local shots as well to say thank you it was getting late now so we headed back.
After a good lay in we headed to town to see what it looked like in the daylight the beach itself was very busy it looks dirty because its black sand but the sea and views were lovely.
We sorted out some admin Etc and then headed back for a shower and to get ready to go out for the evening, as we was walking along the main street we bumped into the Irish lads and they invited us back to there house they had rented one as they woud be in Pichilemu for 3 or more weeks surfing.
We grabbed some beer and of we went to their place they had views over looking the beach from both front and back and they had a lovely fire as well. We all sat round having a laugh for a couple of hours before heading to a fonder which is basically a big wooden shed with a live band and massive bar in it.
It was full of locals from babies to pensioners celebrating Chilean week everyone was having a blast we was dancing with the locals the old dears was trying to teach us to dance LOl.. They had a thing for waving toilet paper around their heads not sure why but we joined in.
We was still there when the sun came up so we staggered back and slept the day away. We eventually got up we headed out for a walk to freshen our heads which work thank god i felt as though someone was playing the drums in my head...
Later we pop´d over to the Irish lads Victor, Jeramey,Dave, Shaun (T Total) and Hughie and Helen. We had a lovely cuppa it was nice to chill for a few hours before heading out to yes you guessed it the fonder again this time we was joined by some Canadian lads they was here for a snow boarding competition in a few days time.
We all headed of and danced the night away, later that day me and Bri decided to go surfing Unfortunately the weather was to bad and the waves would have been to high for beginners, so maybe the next day that evening we was both shattered so we had a night in watching the TV.
Next day town was really busy they was having a massive street parade there was all sorts going on from horse parades to military parade to school children it was really good to see how they celebrate.
We stayed in pichilemu a bit to long really but it was nice just to chill so we had one more night out with the Boys to say good bye then we headed of the next day to Talca it was South of Pichilemu around 4 hours away.
I will up load some photo´s shortly
