We arrived in Puno on the shores of lake Titicaca and checked into our hotel with an unpronounceable name! People had told us that there wasn't much to do in Puno and it was merely a stop off point but Charlie and I had a cracking time. In the afternoon we had a mooch around and indulged in some retail therapy (see photo) we bought t shirts, hats and jumpers. Pleased with our pruchases we heading back to the hotel to dump our fine Peruvian robes and then headed out for supper. We found a great pizza place is traditional oven and enhusiantic chef! We were up early for our tour of lake titcaca and the floating islands. First stop was a floating island owned and lived on by 2 families. One of the inhabitants gave us a step by step guide to how they build and maintain the island. We then got a ride on their 'mercedes benz' boat that the islanders had built. After this we had a 3 hour boat trip to amantani island to meet a family and have lunch. They live a simple but rewarding life, pretty much self sufficient. On Sunday we had a real explore of Puno and it happened to be a religious festival so the town was buzzing! We booked our bus ticket for copacabana and relaxed! A 6.45 start and a 3 hour bus found us in copacabana. We had planned to stay a night there, but again had been warned there wasn't too much to do there, this time everyone was right! 2 hours and we had seen everything, it's a really tired town on the lake side. We bought a bus ticket to la paz and after a memorable journey of high andean plains and dusty markets in el alto, we arrived in la paz. Checked into the hotel had yet another pizza and that's as far as we've got!
