Hey everyone! we've spent the last few days in Bonito, a popular ecological tourist destination. We stayed at a Hostel International, but unfortunately we still had to camp. Bonito is full of little shops selling beachwear, clothes and strange little touristy bits and pieces, so the first thing we did was go shopping! We emerged a few hours later with a bikini, a pair of flip flops and 2 tops between us. After such hard work we decided we needed to sit down to sample one of Brazil's most popular snacks: salgados. These are a bit like pasties but with breadcrumbs instead of pastry, and lots of yummy fillings such as cheese, meat, chicken and veg. The next morning we visited one of the major tourist attractions in the area, the Blue Lake Cave. It's famous for its beautiful clear blue water, from the top of the cave it's hard to believe its real water, it's almost like an optical illusion. Impressive but very pricey for what it was. After the cave and because of the sweltering heat, we decided to head into town it was time for frozen yoghurt strawberries and chocolate sauce - mmmm! It was absolutely delicious! We went back again today because it was so nice!! After returning to the hostel in time to cook again for the group, we found out that everyone was going into town to eat instead as it was one of the groups birthdays at midnight, and that we would cook the following night. Result! So we had a quick shower and headed back into town. We had a lovely meal with some of the girls in our group, then met the rest of the group in a fab bar with live music :) the walls were decorated with the names and messages of people who had visited from all around the world - ended up staying out until 3, not a good idea as we had to be up at half 6 this morning! We went tubing today (basically floating down a river in a rubber ring). Because of all the unexpected costs incurred recently, we agreed we couldn't afford the luxury of transport to the tubing place, so we grabbed some breakfast to eat on the way then set off to walk the 7km from the hostel on foot. When we finally arrived, the tubing was really good, with 3 waterfalls and 3 rapids to make the ride more interesting! After this excitement we headed down the road to a national park where we spent a relaxing couple of hours in the sunshine paddling and swimming in the water with the fish. Then came the dreaded 7km walk back in the hottest part of the day, which is why we felt a second visit to the frozen yoghurt shop was well deserved. However, after thinking about it, we realised that the money we spent buying frozen yoghurt in the last couple of days could have bought us transport after all! When we finally got back from our monster of a walk, everyone was starving so we made dinner early. It was a feast of sausage baps, pasta salad and coleslaw! We went for an early night after our busy night and day, so we decided to catch up on some sleep before our long drive tomorrow. We're feeling a bit sad to leave Bonito as it's such a lovely town, but next stop is Iguazu falls which we know will be amazing!
